How do I add maps and pins?
Maps in Who Where When are images you upload, with pins you place on them. Each pin can link to a place, a battle site or any other entry, so clicking it takes you to that entry's page. You can have as many maps as you need: the whole world, a city plan, a battle sketch.
Who Where When doesn't draw maps. Make yours in whatever tool you like, or photograph a hand-drawn one, and upload the image.
Upload a map
- Open Maps in the sidebar.
- Choose Upload map and pick an image: PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF or SVG, up to 15 MB.
- The map appears as a card. Open it, then click its name to rename it.
Add pins
- On the map, choose Add pin. The button changes to Click the map to drop a pin.
- Click the spot.
- In Drop a pin, pick an entry under Link to, or leave it empty and type a Label for a spot that isn't in your bible.
- Choose Add pin.
Pins linked to an entry take that entry type's color. To move a pin, drag it. Click a pin to change its label or linked entry, open the entry, or choose Remove pin.
Find your way around
- Scroll or pinch to zoom, and drag to pan. The buttons in the corner zoom in, zoom out and reset the view.
- The list beside the map shows every pin. Type in Filter pins… and click a name to center the map on it.
Maps on the reader wiki
When you publish a reader wiki, your maps are included. A pin linked to an entry only shows once that entry is revealed at the reader's reading point, and pins for hidden or draft entries never show. A pin with only a label and no linked entry has no reveal point of its own, so it shows only to readers who choose Show everything. To show a spot earlier, link its pin to an entry and set when readers learn about that entry.
