How do I sign in to Who Where When?
Who Where When doesn't use passwords. Go to the sign-in page, enter your email, and choose Email me a sign-in link. Open the link in the email and you're in. If you've never signed in before, that creates your account.
Sign in step by step
- Go to whowherewhen.app/login, or choose Sign in on the home page.
- Enter your email address.
- Complete the quick check below the email box if one appears. It's there to stop automated sign-ups.
- Choose Email me a sign-in link.
- Open the email and choose the link.
The link works once and expires after 15 minutes. You stay signed in on that browser for 30 days.
The link didn't arrive
- Check your spam or junk folder, and any "Promotions" or "Updates" tabs.
- Make sure the address is right. On the "Check your email" screen, choose Use a different email to try again.
- Wait a minute before asking again. You can have up to five unused links at once; after that you'll see "Too many sign-in links requested" and need to wait a few minutes.
The link says it expired
If you see "That link expired or was already used", request a new one. This happens if more than 15 minutes have passed, if you've already used the link, or if your email app opened it to check it before you did.
Open the link in the browser you want to use. Signing in on your phone doesn't sign you in on your laptop.
Your account
Open your name at the top of Your universes to reach the Account page, where you can change your Display name (what co-authors see in History). The page also shows which email you're signed in with.
There's currently no way to change the email address on an account. If you need to move to a new address, sign in with the new one, and have the owner of each universe invite it (or, for universes you own, export a backup and restore it into a new universe under the new account).
Sign out
Choose Sign out on the Account page, or the sign-out button beside your name on Your universes. Signing out ends the session on that browser only.

Do I need a password?
No. You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email. There's no password to set or forget.
How long does the sign-in link last?
15 minutes, and it works once. If it has expired, request a new one.
How long do I stay signed in?
30 days on each browser, unless you sign out.
